Who Can Apply?
- You are currently a citizen of another country, but you were either a citizen of India at the time of, or at any time after, the commencement of the Constitution OR
- You are a citizen of another country, but you were eligible to become a citizen of India at the time when the Constitution was initiated OR
- You are a citizen of another country, but you have a connection to a territory that became part of India after August 15, 1947 OR
- You are the child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of an Indian citizen OR
- You are a minor child of a person who meets any of the above four criteria OR
- You are a minor child, and both of your parents are citizens of India OR
- You are a minor child, and one of your parents is a citizen of India OR
- If your Spouse has an OCI/Indian Passport and have been married for AT LEAST 2 years
EXCEPTIONS: OCI is not granted to individuals who, or whose parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents, are or were citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, or any other country specified by the Central Government through an official notification. Such individuals are not eligible for registration as Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.

- Current Valid Passport

- Registered Marriage Certificate IF Married OR Divorce Certificate IF Divorced
- Proof of Employment Letter/Student ID/ Proof of Own Business/Proof of last Employment
- Address Proof (Utility Bill/Driving License - NOT BANK STATEMENT)
- Naturalization/Registration Certificate
- Indian Origin Proof: Indian Passport and Surrender Certificate OR Notary public affidavit along with Indian passport copy
- Valid UK Visa copy for Non-UK passport holders
- Name change deed (if applicable)
- English translation of documents (if applicable)
On Basis Of Great Grandparents / Grand Parents / Parents
- Current Valid Passport
- Photo, Signature
- Registered Marriage Certificate IF Married OR Divorce Certificate IF Divorced
- Proof of Employment Letter/Student ID/ Proof of Own Business/Proof of last Employment
- Address Proof (Utility Bill/Driving License - NOT BANK STATEMENT)
- Registered Birth Certificate of Applicant
- Proof of relationship
- Indian Origin Proof of Parents/Grandparents/Great Grand Parents
- Name change deed (if applicable)
- English translation of documents (if applicable)
- Valid UK Visa copy for Non-UK passport holders
If Born In India And Never Held Indian Passport And Travelled On Parents Indian Passport Or Own Foreign Passport
- Current Valid Passport
- Photo, Signature
- Registered Marriage Certificate IF Married OR Divorce Certificate IF Divorced
- Proof of Employment Letter/Student ID/ Proof of Own Business/Proof of last Employment
- Address Proof (Utility Bill/Driving License - NOT BANK STATEMENT)
- Registered Birth Certificate of Applicant
- Exit permit/stay visa issued after birth in India and Exit stamps on passport when first left India OR
- Notary affidavit in original from UK stating the fact and how he/she travelled to UK
- If born in India between 26 January 1950 - 30 June 1987: Indian Birth Certificate OR School Educational Certificate OR
- Proof of Indian Origin of Applicants Parents/Grand Parents/Great Grand Parents
Minor Applicant (Under 18)
- All the documents required in one of the categories above - (For signature, if the child is below 5 years of age, they are required to provide their left thumb fingerprint. If the child is above 5 years of age, they are required to sign or write their name)
- Employment letter - NOT REQUIRED
- Current passport copy of BOTH parents
- Registered Marriage Certificate of Parents OR
- If both parents are divorced: A court order of dissolution of marriage OR
- If both parents share joint custody: A duly notarized consent letter from both parents to apply for OCI for the child OR a specific court order giving permission to one of the parents for the issue of the OCI to the child OR
- In case of Live-in, adopted child and Surrogacy: All relevant documents need to be submitted
- Name change deed (If applicable)
- English translation of documents (If applicable)
- Valid UK Visa copy for Non UK passport holders
On Basis Of Spouse (After At Least 2 Years Of Marriage)
- Current valid passport
- Photo, Signature
- Registered marriage certificate
- Proof of Employment Letter/Student ID/ Proof of Own Business/Proof of last Employment
- Address Proof (Utility Bill/Driving License - NOT BANK STATEMENT)
- Registered Birth Certificate of Applicant
- Current Passport of the Spouse
- Copy of the Indian Passport/OCI of the Spouse
- Spouse consent letter (Provided by us)
- Name change deed (If applicable )
- English translation of documents (If applicable)
- Valid UK Visa copy for Non UK passport holders
